HOW TO NOT CHEAT ON YOUR DIET WITH YOUR CHEAT MEAL
FOODIE FRIDAYS (PART 1 OF I DUNNO)
You ever have one cheat meal, slip fall and end up 15 pounds overweight?
Here’s why
It’s called adherence
Adherence is defined as steady or faithful attachment
Lets look at the definition in applied terms
Way back when I was Corporate Casey this word often came up in quarterly and yearly reviews
It’s applied definition is how much did I adhere to my given schedule, and paid time off was included in that
Examples: I am supposed to be at work for 10 days straight and I am allowed 1 day off, If I attend all 10 days I adhered to my schedule 100% of the time if I take the allotted vacation day I adhered to my schedule 90% of the time
How does this apply to your diet and not allowing a cheat meal to have you cheat on your whole diet?
Shoot for 90% diet adherence, it allows freedom to enjoy food without promoting a negative relationship towards it.
Cheat meals mainly create guilt, and a certain level of stress which now triggers you to continue to cheat. It’s a perfect recipe for you to constantly say I’ll start my diet again Monday.
The alternative is to ensure your specifically designed cheat meal does not do this to you, through knowledge and preparation that comes from your entire diet as a whole.
If you want a deeper talk of how that specifically works I have two other posts that speaks to hamburgers and “the ice cream diet“
Enjoy your cheat meal, its not cheating, its a hall pass
